Saga Williams is a member of Curve Lake First Nation north of Peterborough and the Namekosipiing Anishinabeg located in north western Ontario. Perspectives based on experience are important and Saga has vast experience having worked for three levels of government (First Nation, provincial and federal) tribal councils, national aboriginal organizations and industry.
Ms. Williams has graduated with a Native Studies degree from Trent University and a law degree from Osgoode Hall in 2000.
Whether working for her community or in senior roles with cabinet ministers such as the Hon. Kathleen Wynne, Ms. Williams offers trusted strategic advice that have created new policies, programs and economic opportunities for communities.
Her visionary drive and strong leadership skills have led to the successful implementation of a number of high profile government initiatives involving highly political and culturally sensitive Aboriginal issues. Ms. Williams is currently advising First Nations and industry on resource development partnership opportunities through a comprehensive engagement process and land claims.
Ms. Williams has developed an expertise in facilitation and First Nation engagement. She has lead Advisory Committees, supported community engagement processes and facilitated information sessions. She has done this both at the executive and community levels. Her firm belief in collaboration and holistic community views equip her well into bringing about community based solutions and decision-making.
